A year in review

As we approach Rosh Hashana and the beginning of a new year we would like to take a moment to reflect on the past year.

Askan.org was started a few years back as a network of a handful of friends looking to assist members of Klal Yisroel. Whether it be as a referral to existing Chesed organizations or providing any service that may be needed.

Baruch HaShem we can look back at this past year and say ‘Mi K’amcha Yisroel’ with the assistance of the over 250 volunteers that receive the Askan.org email we have helped hundreds of fellow Jews in the NY/NJ/CT area as well as across the country.

We thank all those that drove patients and their families to and from hospitals, thousands of miles have been driven, be it from BoroPark to Mount Sinai or Lakewood, NJ to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Those that have assisted in an early morning Shachris Minyan for a kidney donor, or the wonderful people that offered to bring urgent lab paperwork on an Erev Shabbos. Many families have benefited from the furniture L’tzorach Mitzvah that have been posted here.

For some of us, our homes and families were affected by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, we thank all those that volunteered their time with us and the various other Chesed and communal organizations be it in Sea Gate, Far Rockaway or the FiveTowns. Most recently, you have assisted for a patient and their family to hear Tekias Shofar in a hospital in Indianapolis for the upcoming Yom Tov. None of this could be possible without the assistance of you.

As we enter Rosh Hashana we can look back and reflect on a year filled with Gemilas Chassodim, we also look forward to a new year filled with Simcha, Bracha, Yeshua, Refuah and may we be Zoche that this year should bring the coming of Moshiach.
